Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You
It was only at the end of October when the US sent a squadron of f-15’s to Turkey in a bid to “fight” ISIS, when ISIS possesses no warplanes. Now Turkey claims that a Russian SU-24 violated its airspace. Russian search crews are currently searching for the pilots.
The plane was filmed crashing into a Syrian village, disqualifying Turkey’s claims of airspace violations. There are claims on Twitter that the SU-24 was shot down by Turkish f-16’s. If indeed this is the case, then it was Turkey who violated Syrian airspace.
It’s fairly certain that the US pilots/advisors in Turkey pushed for the attack on the Russian SU-24.
Note: American F-15’s specialize in air to air combat. F-15’s of a specific variant are capable of equipping smart bombs, but generally f-15’s are used for engaging air targets. The US sent the F-15’s to play support roles in Turkey’s air engagements. They were sent under the pretense that they would be bolstering the so called anti-ISIS campaign.
