Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You

Germany is Weird Bro

bohmerman what

What’s going on over there?

It’s very difficult to figure out Germany. We don’t have many English sites that carry German news content, and most of the really good content is surely filtered by the time they reach our shores.  I’m fairly certain that the news surprised many people, not just myself this morning, when it was announced that the case against Bohmermann would proceed.

There’s this obscure law that has been cited frequently in the last couple of news cycles that Germany prohibits insults against foreign leaders. Germany’s chancellor Merkel commented that it was this law that took the case off her hands, and solemnly placed into the careful purview of German courts.

The charge against Bohmermann stemmed from his reading of a satirical poem on air, to which a certain Islamist leader took great issue with.

Now what’s interesting is that this might not be a suppression of speech.  It might not even be a degradation of Germany’s political clout on the world stage.

Bohmermann with his recent popularity on social media, paints him as a comedian who went against a small dicked dictator who buys oil from Islamic State, traffics humans on the international refugee market, and blackmails EU states for Euro currency. But what we didn’t see was that Bohmermann, for the longest time, had been an advocate for refugees.

laughingcockroachesEssentially, unbeknownst to people stateside, Bohmermann was an influential critic of people who feared the influx of refugees.  Bohmermann is said to be the face of leftists in Germany, the political half which led to seniors being booted from their homes to make room for Syrian refugees, and various other cases of women getting raped by refugees in other parts of Europe.

So with Bohmermann’s abrupt U-Turn from left to right, he gained a lot of international attention.  This wasn’t good for Merkel’s soft stance with regards to foreign policy. Allowing the case to proceed could merely be Chancellor Merkel’s way of weakening the German left to keep them from advocating more refugees, and also a way to drop the hammer on Germany’s far right. At least, that’s one of the ways people are looking at it. It’s certainly not working for Merkel at any rate.

The real issue that we’re being distracted from is that Europe is still being flooded with refugees, and that the EU is going to give Erdogan hostage payments to put cake batter on the sieve.

Are there any courts willing to prosecute Erdogan for conspiring with ISIS?
