Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You
Not many will remember this. It wasn’t heavily repeated in US news, but back in April, the United States Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, and her convoy ran over a 7 yr old kid. Her convoy was traveling at top speed, when the driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy failed to notice a boy in the middle of the road. After the child was killed, the UN Ambassador just kept going. The official story was that she was given an order to proceed, because supposedly, the area was highly volatile.
If the security was not adequate, for the convoy to stop and give the death its proper respect, then what was the convoy doing in Cameroon in the first place? (The official mission was to meet with the victims of Boko Haram.)
How was the family of the 7 yr old boy compensated? With soap, oil, bags of flour, rice, onion, salt and sugar. Two cows, and $1700 USD. That’s about a day’s pay for a US ambassador isn’t it?
The United Nations itself out-bidded the US by giving the family 5x the compensation. $8500 USD. (Think about it for 1 second.)
A water well was also built at the village, so that the villagers will never forget the day the US Ambassador fled the scene of a crime, while on business.
