Only 23 out of 59 Tomahawks Hit Their Target. 36 Went Missing. (Shuyrat Airbase)

(Update April 8, 2017)  44 targets were struck at the Shuyrat airbase.  44 out of 59 missiles were successful. The DoD places this number higher at 58 out of 59.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, only 23 out of 59 missiles struck the Shuyrat airbase.

Tomahawks can be fitted with 1,000 pound conventional warheads according to CNN.

There are several types of Tomahawk missiles.

Thermonuclear (decomissioned)

Anti-ship

Cluster warheads

Ground launched

Air to surface.

The cost of each of these missiles can vary. For example, an air to surface Tomahawk costs $570k.  The Land attack Block IV missile costs $1.41 million (According to Huffington Post).

According to CNN, the Tomahawk missiles that were used on the Shuyrat airbase cost about $832k each.

Only 38% of the missiles launched managed to reach their target.
