Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You
A ‘weaboo’ is a slang term for westerners who fancy Japanese culture. It’s different from the word ‘otaku,’ a word which is primarily reserved for describing native Japanese manga readers. Weaboos are sometimes characterized by their love for anime inspired pillows, their fluency in manga terminology, and their preference for a wide range of Japanese merchandise over their American counterparts. Things like samurai swords and anime inspired toys.
You CAN be an otaku even if you’re a westerner, but it all depends on how deeply versed you are in manga story plots written from the 1980’s and forward.
There’s nothing wrong with being called a weaboo. If you’re a weaboo, you’re part of a group of millions who enjoy Japanese culture.
It has a lot to do with the way that Japan places concepts such as tradition, orderly conduct, and politeness in their manga story structures. Where these concepts are viewed as regressive and alienating traits in the west, Japan puts them right at the top alongside of other great things such as ethics and accountability. I’m not bashing westerners, don’t get me wrong. It’s just the way that the two cultures differ.
If you were born in the west, you’re expected to be an individualist, forceful, and brutish. It’s the only way to compete. If you were born in the east, it’s the other way around.
So the stark contrast in cultures is what attracts some westerners to Japanese culture. It’s a form of individualism. Going against the grain.
With that said, weaboos are waking up to the Deep State menace. Older weaboos already know about the deep state, but somewhere down the line they forgot all about the military’s misadventures in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya. They forgot all about Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, the Kuwaiti princess…
You’ll be delighted to hear that some weaboos have awakened. They remember how back in the 90’s, they were tricked into supporting illegal military invasions into sovereign Middle East states. They don’t want their mistakes to be repeated by a new weaboo generation. Their love for Gundam, Ninja Turtles and Dragon Ball compels them to value truth and accountability over needless wars and acts of aggression.
The online publication JapanToday published an article about John Bolton.
Whether or not the editors at JapanToday know of the existence of the Deep State matters little…
because weaboo patriots are there with Japan defending America’s good name. Or at least what’s left that can be salvaged…
