Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You

Racism is a Contentious Issue in the West, but in Israel it is Fully Institutionalized.

I really hate bringing this up because if I were to focus on this issue, I would end up having to write hundreds of articles, and I’m afraid of alienating readers who are more interested in other issues. But on the other hand, if I were to turn my back on this, it would give the massive well funded organizations roaming on WordPress free reign over the flow of information.

Just browsing Reddit and looking for articles on Palestine, almost all the articles posted are left without views.

Reddit users are especially vulnerable to being targeted by highly organized groups. This is because of Reddit’s indexing of user post history. Whether or not a Redditor espouses a certain bias determines how his opinions are regarded.

If a user praises Monsanto, his posts get down voted.

If a user praises the agriculture industry which relies on GMOs, his posts gets up voted.

If a user praises LGBT, his posts get up voted.

If a user praises Milo Yiannopoulos who is LGBT, his posts get down voted.

If a user praises Hillary Clinton, his posts get up voted.

If a user praises Hillary Clinton’s “super predator” comment, his posts get down voted.

So there’s a little bit of leeway on who gets preferential treatment depending on what the “trending narrative” is.  It’s kind of like a false democracy because on the one hand, a person’s social status is determined by how many points he can score on the trending scale. On the other hand, having a point of view that is both valid but unpopular nets you very disastrous results.

But there’s one big persistent taboo that only a few Redditors ever dare to cross, and that’s the issue of Palestine.

And we have to think, why is it that users are excommunicated when they bring up murdered Palestinians? Why are Palestinian youths called child soldiers when they don’t even have guns? If a child steps on an Israeli mine, why is it always portrayed as if the parents pushed him onto it? Where are the cries of injustice for soldiers laying munitions like the mainstream media does when Iran confronts ISIS?

Anyways, we’re going to have to visit this issue again and again until a fix is found.
