Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You
You bet it is! There is nothing in the rules saying that you CAN’T be positively pessimist! Take this video for example.
If I said “Wow cool! I wish I was driving that car! I’m amazed and dazzled, and the owner must get all the girls dude,” then I’d be just another pleb reacting to Youtube vids.
If I said “Nah bro, that car is impractical. You can slap a turbo on a 4 cyl and it would do laps on that Lamborghini, because acceleration is what counts, not top speed.” then I’d be a jealous hater.
And I don’t want to be a hater because I want to be a part of the crowd because being a hater is akin to being a pariah and…
…wait a minute, what!?
It’s normal to be pessimistic because of practicality. It’s the driving force behind 90% of the decisions we make. Will a supercar help us feed the kids? No. Will it get us to work faster? No, because traffic flow is regulated by stop lights.
So in terms of practicality, if we were presented with an econo class car, we would jump at the chance to get it, because it would help us in our day to day routines.
I’d be ecstatic to go shopping for a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer. They’re out of production now, but they’re still nice and practical. I love the smell of factory fresh plastics. Even a brand new civic wouldn’t be so bad. They’re lightweight, good on gas, and they come equipped with all the essentials.
Now if we look at society, the key factor in maintaining a society is practicality. What do I mean by this? Societies need certain things to succeed.

Laws that protect the land and the people who live on it
Food ensures our survival. Medicine keeps us healthy. The laws govern our behavior, and they keep us from destroying the land on which we grow our food. Entertainment supplements the law by keeping us busy. It helps us to stay creative. We write books, and poems, and we create art and sports and TV shows. It mitigates the growth of restlessness, which if left unchecked would cause us commit crimes and all sorts of terrible things. And procreation is self explanatory.
Anything outside this 5 item bullet list is unnecessary.
War, regime change, gambling, the stock markets, paper currency, electronic currency, banks, usury, drugs… without these would we still thrive as a society? Oh yeah! definitely!
So if someone accuses you of being pessimistic, just tell them you’re trying to fix the world! And you need their help to do it!
