Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You
That’s an oddly worded title, but if it had included the word “sound” in between “Issues” and “very,” it would have taken on a completely different meaning.
This article by Britta Sandberg at Der Spiegel lays out the challenges that President Macron faces in the Elysee, but amid what seems like a torrent of sensitive issues, Britta manages to seed the article with layers of facts in just the right amounts, to give people like me the information I needed to assess France’s situation.
It’s remarkably different from what I typically see written on CNN or the Guardian. Those two sites only offer two flavors of news: caustic and radioactive.
But isn’t that just how it is in Germany? I’ve heard it mentioned many times that Germany values neutrality very highly. And facts, it always needs to have lots of facts. Otherwise it’s regarded as “small talk.” And nobody likes “small talk.”

It’s an interesting article if you read it. It says good things about President Macron, about how he’s a ‘take charge kind of guy.’ It also lays out many avenues in a low key way, of how President Macron could resolve disputes between the unions and the government. Personally, I need more information. I’m curious and I wish to learn more.
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says Iran will never seek nuclear weapons, with or without the NPT. That’s a good sign. Earlier Iran had announced that they would exit the NPT if Europe backs out of the JCPOA. I’m really curious of what this all means.

The NPT is the Non-proliferation (of nuclear weapons) Treaty, of which Iran is a party to. There have been many allegations of Iran’s non compliance to the NPT, but zero evidence by the US has ever materialized. So year after year you see Netanyahu go on TV holding up a placard with words written in big bold letters, as if he was in kindergarten talking to other kids his IQ, saying that Iran is only 1 year away from developing a nuclear weapon. Every fucking year.
I found this in my 2017 archives and it only took 1 click to find it. 1 click. God is truly guiding my hand tonight.
The JCPOA is the agreement signed in 2015 between Iran, US, China, UK, Russia, France, and Germany. The agreement locked Iran into limiting its nuclear production, and in exchange the US and the EU would roll back their sanctions. Iran had been in full compliance with the JCPOA up until Trump violated the contract.
So essentially, Iran kept up its end of the bargain, and in the end they were deceived. As much as the GOP media has tried to hide this, everyone on the internet (who matters) understands that this was Trump’s mistake.
The popular take on this epic bungle is that “Trump had only made the situation worse.” I disagree. I believe this was deliberate in nature to provoke Iran into irrationality, so that it would give Israel the carte blanche excuse to launch nuclear missiles. Thankfully Iran has exceeded our expectations and has treated this, overall, with decisive and measured restraint. That’s Persian culture my friends. Civilized, logical, and gentlemanly, but assertive and masculine, (when placed side by side with sissy Israel).
By the way, Israel has continually refused to sign the NPT, and is the ONLY country on earth to have threatened the EU and the US with nuclear annihilation. Look up the ‘Samson Option.’
