When the Going Gets Good, Try to Keep Things in Perspective

A number of countries have passed the peak of infection. We’ve built provisionary hospitals, enacted lockdowns, and fostered a need for communities to work together.  All of that did not go to waste because we see that the rates of both infections and deaths are slowly declining.

If we enforced ‘shelter in place’ a bit “too much,” realize that it prevented care systems around the world from collapsing.  It bought our doctors and nurses time to develop techniques and medication to treat COVID-19.  The experience gained during this crisis will be crucial if and when a second and third wave hits. It showed that even in gilded democratic societies, the concept of communistic approportioning of “essential” and “non essential” workers is a working theory. Assbutts.

If we built “too many hospitals,” it shows that at a time of crisis, the various different bureaucracies across the world can put aside their petty indifferences, at least for a while, to give a shit about the people. That is an enlightenment that is invaluable to the  public because we now know that if we would have spent less money and effort on wars all these decades, we can actually afford to heal ‘the people.’  This should serve as a lesson at the very least that corporate profits are killing people in the typical day to day gouging for greed money or influence. It shows that we have evolved technologically and in cynicism, but have regressed in other aspects.

This is now a time of abundance. Resources that were previously allocated to fighting COVID-19 are being freed up to tackle typical problems like cancer, or diabetes, or broken bones, and other such circumstances.

I think that governments did not “overreact” to the COVID-19 crisis because at the time of COVID-19’s rising, researchers around the world were struggling to produce test kits, and over time they were able to refine their techniques and improve upon the old models to give the people the testing they need. I need to remind people that faulty test kits were coming from both the US and China, not just China.  The MSM would have you think  otherwise.

To cease this momentum now, especially at a time of abundance is foolish, and shortsighted. We still need to keep working together, and we still need to find a cure.
