Questions You Should be Asking the World Around You

Sorcerers (Addition)

How many years has it been since I last played GuildWars2? Well, I can’t remember but I’ll share a strange story with you anyways.

Some of us may have had those odd tales relayed to us by friends and maybe family, of phenomena occurring seemingly out of the blue…or not at random at all but instead regularly. We typically dismiss these stories because we live in an era of science.

The picture up above is a screenshot from Black Desert Online by the way, I just wanted to make that clear.

In Guildwars2 there is a certain game mode called ‘World vs World.’ It is a special map designed for 150 players to battle it out for land domination. 3 servers (50 players each). Think of it as Fortnite, but with 150 players.

Every time I played this game mode, the temperature in my room would drop a few degrees.

Now you might say that it’s simply the capillaries contracting as a function of the fight or flight instinct. (When the blood capillaries constrict, and the pores of your skin shut down, the blood is drawn inwards and away from the epidermis, causing you to feel cold on the skin.) But that does not explain the chill wind inside the room.

With the windows in the room closed and no draft possible, it is the chill wind that exposes this phenomenon to detection by our human senses.

And this is when I began to suspect that something was being attracted to the conflict on my screen between 150 players in ‘World vs World.’

That was then, this is now.

Phenomena (from my personal experience) had never occurred in World of Warcraft, Warframe, Grand Theft Auto V Online, or Star Trek Online. But I’ve heard a few tales about World of Warcraft and Grand Theft Auto. Mostly minor mostly odd occurrences.

Black Desert Online has undergone a series of changes in the last 2 weeks. The speed with which these changes were implemented is – to say the least – extraordinary.

These changes were specifically directed at reducing the stress levels for players online.

If you were here for the last blog post, I mentioned that if you were playing Black Desert Online, you would need to spend a lot of time and effort to progress your character in game. Much of those requirements have been relaxed.

This is a part of the letter written by Jae this week to Black Desert Online’s players:

Black Desert is a game that offers varied gameplay in a wide and expansive world. Although it’s technically just a game, it’s also another world that you inhabit through your character, where memories of hard-won victories, such as taming a wild horse, leave a lasting impression. In this world called Black Desert, there are characters and NPCs that reflect the diversity of our player base… coming together to in the game to create real-life emotions. With the aid of our Adventurers, we will continue to build this world into reality.

Will the reduction in stress coalesced above Black Desert overall effect a similar reduction in curses streaming out onto the real world? I am hopeful, but the last two times I wrote about Black Desert, big curses happend right the day after.

It may be possible that the phenomena is coming from somewhere else.

I am hopeful, but I’m also keeping my guard up. This is a developing story.
